I started mountain biking two months ago and I've been loving it ever since. I bought a great entry level Commencal mountain bike from the guys at buycycle.co.za. Not too far from Fourways is a place full of fresh air, trees and rivers.

If you're a newbie like me then you would undoubtedly want to find a decent place to ride your mountain bike. After browsing the Google for a few hours I found the Northern Farms. The Northern Farms is a farm situated just past Broadacres going towards Diepsloot. Activites range from hiking, bird watching to cycling.

The mountain bike trails range from novice 10km routes to harder 50km routes. Northern Farms is a great bike park to get stuck into the sport of mountain biking with it's wide jeep trails and challenging single track trails. The farm offers a wide variety and caters for people of all ages.

The farm opens its gates during weekends and entry is R30 for a single day pass. You can also purchase a 20 day pass for R300 (this option works out much cheaper if you intend on going at least once a week to cycle).

I've been cycling at the farm for over 2 months and I still haven't been through all the trails it has to offer. This is a bike park you'll keep coming back to week after week. The staff and other cyclists are friendly and more than happy to assist with anything. Check out the Northern Farm website for more information.
